Study Support
Although it implies an academic bias, the scope of the definition encompasses the fun and enjoyment as well as the range and depth of activities that study support provision involves. There is a growing commitment within schools and the wider community to provide and develop a high quality programme of sustainable activities. The definition of study support gives weight to the wide variety of related activities, and can be grouped under three main headings:Enabling
Help with Key Skills including literacy, numeracy and ICT
Thinking skills, learning skills, study skills
Mentoring by adults and other pupils
Community service and citizenship
Extension
Facilities and support to do homework, before or after school
Study clubs linked to existing curricular subject
Space and support for coursework and examination revision
Residential events - study weeks or weekends
Enrichment
Sports, games and adventurous activities
Creative ventures - music, film, drama, dance and the full range of the arts.
Opportunities to pursue particular interests - science, archaeology, languages, circus skills, motor vehicle maintenance.
